I can’t believe 2017 is over! It’s been a crazy, amazing, roller coaster of a year. Between the holidays and some curveballs that came up in December, the goals I had set turned out to be a mixed bag. You’ve probably been there too – getting your hopes and goals overturned by life! It’s okay, though – it just means there’s more room for improvement. 😊
December 2017’s Business Goals and Lessons Learned:
Launch the Studio 25 Kickstarter – SUCCESS
We launched the Studio 25 Kickstarter right on schedule! The art show went pretty well and we got some media coverage, which was great. The Kickstarter still has a ways to go, but we’re making progress! We have until the 15th to meet our goal, so we’re holding out hope.
Increase Pinterest traffic – failure
We didn’t quite reach the goal of 100 visits from Pinterest, but we got pretty close! It was a small increase over November’s traffic, so at the least, it’s progress.
Wrap up the first Sparking Growth Podcast season – SUCCESS
It was a great season, too, if I do say so myself! I had nine amazing entrepreneurs join me on the podcast and we worked through obstacles that were holding their business back. The goal of the podcast has always been to spark growth in listeners’ businesses, and I think we accomplished that. 🎉
Launch public speaking coaching – failure
Unfortunately, this wasn’t quite as ‘in the bag’ as I thought it was. Lucas’s day job threw him a bit of a curveball in the form of a LOT of extra travel over the next couple months, which has forced us to delay the course a bit. That’s okay, though – it gives us a chance to take on a few more beta clients for public speaking and refine the course content a bit more before the launch!
Remember, if you’d like to be a beta client and improve your public speaking skills or a speech itself, fill out this quick form. Each beta session will be $50 each (a 25%+ discount), and you can take advantage of that price for multiple sessions. Or if you’re more interested in a hands-on course, email email@example.com to get more information.
My Business Goals for January 2018:
Increase Pinterest traffic
Yep, still working on this one! I’m still going to aim for 100 visits during the month of January. I’m taking advantage of the last month I have of unlimited Tailwind Tribe submissions and I’ll be taking a look at my Pinterest strategy again in February when the Tribes change. I’m interested to see what kind of impact that has on traffic!
Create a 2018 content strategy
I started reading it already and I’m excited to see how it impacts my content strategy. I’ll admit it: written content is not my favorite task, so I may be experimenting with other options as well. The Sparking Growth Podcast has been one of those experiments, and it’s been great, so I’m planning to build on that within my content strategy for 2018.
Get Studio 25’s funding underway
I’m going to share a secret: I don’t 100% believe the Studio 25 Kickstarter is going to succeed. Okay, that’s not necessarily a secret, but the real secret is that it’s okay if it doesn’t. The Kickstarter is more of a grand experiment and a way to get the word out and start serious networking. If we’re able to get any significant portion of Studio 25’s funding pledged via the Kickstarter, I’ll consider that a success. That’s why my goal for this month is NOT to 100% fund the Kickstarter, but to get the funding underway. If the Kickstarter fails, as long as we get the next steps in place, that’s my success.
Get the foundation laid for the public speaking course
In case you missed the announcement: Unit 25 is going to launch a public speaking course for entrepreneurs this year!
We’re currently in the planning stage of the course, which includes beta client coaching. Part of the beta coaching process will be gathering information to help Lucas build a public speaking course. He’s planning to launch version 1.0 of the course before the summer and we’ll be pre-selling spots for that course soon. It will be $125 (50% off the full price) and it will include four weeks of curriculum and hands-on training with Lucas. There will only be five spots available in this first session, so if you’re interested, shoot him an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to get more information.
If you’re interested in learning how to improve your public speaking skills and overcome your fears, just fill out this quick form to get started!
What are your goals for January 2018?
I want to support you in your goals, so tell me about them in the comments or send me an email and we can chat. I’m also building a Facebook community to support entrepreneurs who want to do more of what they love, and you are invited to join! I can’t wait to work on our goals together.
