Where do you turn when your business is struggling? There are so many resources available that it can get overwhelming. Sometimes you need the outside perspective and planning that a business coach provides. Choosing a business coach can be difficult, though! Different coaches provide different approaches, after all.
At Unit 25, we use the ACE Growth Method that I created. This allows us to take a holistic approach to your business growth and get a look at the big picture. We don’t simply address growth opportunities; we look at WHY your business growth has stalled and then find ways to ignite that growth without adding too much to your plate. How do we do it? Here’s the ACE Method breakdown:
Phase 1: A = Assess
Knowing where your business started is a crucial step towards growth. It reminds you of how far you’ve come, even if it only feels like a few steps. You can look at what has worked and what hasn’t (and then learn from those experiences).
In the Assess phase of the ACE Growth Method, we look at why you started your business and if your mission is still intact (in other words, are you still in business for the same reasons you started it?). We’ll take a look at what you enjoy most about your business AND what you enjoy outside of your business so that we can incorporate that into the next phase.
An important part of this phase is also looking at how your business is currently performing. Are you reaching your target audience and if not, why? Sometimes your target audience has changed and you don’t even realize it! Some folks don’t have their target audience defined, either. If you don’t know who you want to reach or why you can’t seem to connect with your ideal client, this is where the Assess phase comes in.
Another aspect of your business performance that we’ll look at is your goals. How do you define success? This varies from person to person and it doesn’t have to be about money. Jenn’s husband said for a long time that his definition of success was owning a tailored 3-piece suit. When he finally got that suit, a whole new world opened up and he was able to define a new level of success for himself. Maybe your vision of success is being able to take a vacation to Tahiti. (It is a magical place, after all.) Whatever that defining success indicator is, it’s not about what Suzy Successful defines as success; it’s about YOU and what you want to achieve.
We do, of course, talk about your income goals, though. We’ll break down the numbers and utilize that data in the planning phase. This is where things get exciting and REAL.
Phase 2: C = Create a plan
Once we’ve assessed where your business started, where it is now, and where you want to take it, it’s time to create a plan. If you’re a numbers geek like me, you probably love plans. I put together a crazy little spreadsheet the other day to help me see how many clients I needed to have each month to pay the bills because I’m a nerd. You can borrow it, actually. [LINK] The cool thing: you might be surprised at how little it actually takes to achieve your goals!
Now, your plan won’t be all about numbers or money, of course. If you don’t have a path to take to reach the end, you’re going to have a hard time getting there, right? During the Create phase, your business growth coach will work with you to create a customized Action Steps plan. It will lay out the steps you’ll take – in easy, bite-sized chunk – to reach your goals.
Phase 3: E = Empower growth
Once you have your Action Steps plan in hand, you’re ready to set sail for success! You don’t have to go it alone, though. We all need a cheerleader or accountability partner sometimes, and Unit 25 doesn’t leave you hanging. Your business growth coach will stand by you as you work towards your goals.
We approach this a bit differently than some other business coaches, too. Rather than requiring you to have weekly or monthly check-in calls with your coach, we tailor your coaching plan to YOU. If you’re an introvert who is drained by frequent face-to-face (or even voice-to-voice) interactions and wants to avoid them, no problem! You can get support from your coach via email when you need it.
On the other hand, maybe you’re an extrovert who misses working directly with others now that you work from home. You can still have those check-in calls or maybe even utilize a video messaging app like Marco Polo to stay in touch with your coach! Our goal at Unit 25 is to set you up for success, so we work with what YOU are comfortable with.
Each month, we also offer an optional (no added cost) Plan Refresh phase, too. We don’t go all the way back to the beginning, but your business growth coach will work with you to re-evaluate your Action Steps Plan and see what’s working and what isn’t. We then tweak and update your Plan to reflect that so you can continue moving forward with confidence.
