October feels like it flew by. My brick and mortar storefront project jumped to full throttle, all hands on deck. My podcast recordings are all completed for Season 1 and it’s launching this month (ah!). For once, I met almost every single one of my goals for the month, too! Check out what worked and what didn’t:

Setting goals is crucial for growing your business! Without them, you won't have accountability and motivation. October 2017’s Business Goals and Lessons Learned:

Bring on one new client – SUCCESS

My favorite Facebook group, Own It. Crush It, put together an impromptu giveaway for its members last month. It turned into a HUGE giveaway, and I was honored to be included in it. I offered a business growth coaching session and thus landed a client!

If you’re in a period of growth and need a team to support you, Unit 25 can be your extra hands. Check out our branding, content, marketing, and support services – we would love to work with you! If you’re looking for a Growth Action Plan, check out our ACE Growth Coaching service, too.

Grow Pinterest to 425 followers – SUCCESS

Just squeaked it out with 427 followers on Halloween! Honestly, I’m realizing that I don’t really care all that much about Pinterest followers, though, so this is going to drop off of the list for November. I’m considering tracking the actual traffic that Pinterest brings in instead, as that is a better metric of success with this platform than followers.

Post to Instagram at least three times a week – failure

Ugh, this one just isn’t happening, man. I’m still excited to try out Jenna Kutcher’s techniques and make deeper connections, but I’m having such trouble actually making this happen for some reason. There are so many other things going on right now that Instagram just isn’t high on my priorities list. If you want to join me, though, I’m at and I’d love to follow along with you too! I’m still trying to keep an eye on and interact with other peoples’ posts on there at least, so more awesome feeds to follow would be great.

Record three or more new podcast episodes – HUGE SUCCESS

If you haven’t heard, I’m launching the Sparking Growth Podcast this year! It’s releasing next week, actually, and I am a bit giddy with excitement. This goal got blown out of the water: I recorded eight – count ’em, EIGHT – episodes over the month of October. I’m airing the podcast in seasons so that I can ensure quality episodes, so this rounds out my first season of ten episodes. Woohoo!

The podcast is a little unconventional: instead of having guest experts on, I’ll be talking with guest entrepreneurs. We record a mini-coaching session to work through what’s going on in their business and that becomes the episode. Hearing how someone at your own stage of business worked through a problem can sometimes be even more beneficial than hearing from an ‘expert!’

If you’re interested in being part of the podcast, you can apply to be a guest at I’m excited to get to launch the podcast soon and maybe even get to chat with YOU on the podcast soon!

Make progress on the membership community – SUCCESS

Back in September, my friend Ashley from Blank Slate Media Consulting bounced an idea off of me. She’d found an available domain name that fit her exact target audience. It turned out to not be quite the right domain name, but while we tossed ideas back and forth, we realized that we both had very similar ideas. I’ve been planning a membership community for a while, and Ashley wanted to use her domain name to create a tight community as well.

We decided to combine our powers projects and are now going to be launching an awesome membership community together! We’d love to hear what you’d like to see in a membership community, so feel free to drop your ideas in the comments. In October, we started getting the technical side of things up and running, so we now have a simple landing page up for Be Boss Girl. You can hop over there and sign up to get all the updates as it progresses and maybe get some early bird goodies as well!

Research the studio storefront – HUGE SUCCESS

Another big project that unexpectedly blossomed in September is a local creative co-working studio. My friend Elizabeth found a beautiful, empty retail space in our town and was daydreaming about being able to use it as a space to create her art. The more we talked about it, the more we both felt like we could turn that space into something even more, though.

We went beyond just researching in October: we’re now well into the pre-launch phase! We’re doing a couple of local events to spread the word and get our Kickstarter campaign off on the right foot. One of the events will be a fine arts online silent auction, so keep an eye out for announcements about that.

In case you missed it last month, here’s the general idea: we will be opening a creative co-working studio for artists, photographers, and crafters in 2018. Our members will be able to use the space to create their art, as well as display their pieces for sale in our physical and digital storefronts. We’re also planning to host workshops for creatives and creative entrepreneurs, giving our members and the community a chance to learn new creative skills and grow their businesses. There isn’t anything quite like this within a reasonable driving distance, so I’m really excited to be able to offer this to our community!

My Unit 25 Creative + Consulting Goals for November 2017:

Launch the Studio 25 Kickstarter

Honestly, this is going to take up a HUGE amount of my time and effort. We’re kicking things off (pun intended) with a Black Friday electronics recycling event and following that up with an art show, running the Kickstarter at the same time to leverage the awareness the events create. It’s going to take a lot of work, but it will be worth it if we’re able to fund the Studio at the end of it!

Increase Pinterest traffic

Unit 25 is still relatively new, so our traffic is still a bit low. Our Pinterest account gets decent traction for a small account, but getting traffic from Pinterest is always a bit dicey. Many of us Pin content with the intent to come back and read it later and never do, unfortunately. Because of that, my goal for November will be to get 100 clicks to the Unit 25 website from Pinterest. Low, but theoretically doable!

Launch the Sparking Growth Podcast and consistently release one episode per week

Ah, so excited about this one! I’ve gotten to talk to some FANTASTIC people for this podcast, and I can’t wait to share them with you. The podcast is meant to spark business growth ideas for you based off my conversations with the guests, hence the title. The feedback I’ve received about it so far has been great, so stay tuned for the launch!

Work on public speaking coaching services

My husband, Lucas, has – ahem, finally! – decided to offer his public speaking coaching skills to our fellow entrepreneurs! He competed in public speaking in college and went on to teach competitive speech students and part of his day job is teaching people how to speak to the media. He’s opening up his services to beta clients this month, so if you’re interested in learning how to improve your public speaking skills and overcome your fears, email us at [email protected]!

What are your goals for November 2017?

I want to support you in your goals, so tell me about them in the comments or send me an email and we can chat. I’m also building a Facebook community to support entrepreneurs who want to do more of what they love, and you are invited to join! I can’t wait to work on our goals together.
